Indian Wells is a Tennis Oasis to Top Pros

The best tennis players in the world are en route to the desert hoping to find an oasis of points and prize money. Set to start in a few days, Indian Wells attracts the biggest stars on the ATP Tour each year, including defending champion, and San Diego native, Taylor Fritz.

Unfortunately, Rafael Nadal, the runner-up in 2022 will be sidelined due to injury. Rafa is a three-time Indian Wells Champion and has had some historic moments at Tennis Paradise over the years. Last March, his viral practice session with teenage superstar, Carlos Alcaraz, captured the attention of millions all over the world.

(Fun Fact: A video shared from the practice was the most viewed video for the @Tennis_Point_USA Instagram account, receiving 4M views and was even shared by @TennisTV!)

It's undetermined if Novak Djokovic will be in attendance due to his vaccination status, however, his name is listed as a qualifier and if he makes the event, he will certainly be the favorite.

Also, looking for a shot at the 2023 Men's Singles title will be Carlos Alcaraz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev, and Felix Auger-Aliassime. The U.S. will be represented well this year with top Americans Frances Tiafoe, Tommy Paul, Ben Shelton, J.J. Wolf, Brandon Nakashima, Maxime Cressy and John Isner looking to make some noise!

Vying for the 2023 Indian Wells Women's Singles Title will be some of the best tennis players on the WTA Tour. These female athletes include defending champion Iga Swiatek, last year's runner-up Maria Sakkari, and recent AO winner Aryna Sabalenka.

Ons Jabeur, Caroline Garcia, Paula Badosa, and Bianca Andreescu will create quite an obstacle as they pursue a portion of the $8.8 million tournament prize money.

Similarly, the American stars are expected to wreak some havoc with Coco Gauff, Madison Keys, Jessica Pegula, Alycia Parks, Amanda Anisimova, and Danielle Collins all dangerous players in the field looking for victory on their home soil.

Personally speaking, I think the female players to watch will be Alison Riske and Shelby Rogers. Both are coming off some pretty lofty wins and are overdue for a championship title.

Nicknamed the BNP after the French international banking groups sponsorship, this tournament is played at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, near Palm Springs. Nearly a half-million tennis fans will attend, and even more, will tune in and watch on TV.

Visitors will get to choose from a plethora of flavors including grab-and-go bites and a few sit-down restaurants. There's also a beautiful beer garden under a canopy of Palm Trees and plenty of scheduled events including a Family Day, live music, and a special Netflix viewing of BreakPoint Episode 3 starting Taylor Fritz and Maria Sakkari.
